I created a poster in Adobe Photoshop CS5
The things I learnt from todays lesson is:
I remembered how to remove the background
of an image in Adobe Photoshop.
The design I created is not very complex
I added images from Google and removed the
backgrounds using the quick mask tool.
I created text for the cover and used the
shape tool for various shapes.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the yellow
star at the top.
The effects I used on the text is the drop shadow effect
as well as the gradient fill in order to give the title
more depth.
I found the designing stage of creating this magazine
faily easy, I'd rate the difficulty 2/10.

Three potential titles.

Cover Page Sketched Image

SCHOOL MAGAZINE - FINAL STAGES

I intended for my magazine cover to look, simple but not dull as it is aimed towards teenagers between 12-18. I also didn't want to make the cover look dramatically untidy as it makes it seem overly unprofessional so I played around with the settings on Photoshop to come up with this.
One point I could have improved on was the photography. I didn't notice that I'd need the entire body of the model to be in shot which gave me difficulties. To prevent this next time, I could sketch out a draft of what I intend my cover to look like then act upon those sketches.

In the contents page, I decided that I'd use the same colour scheme to the cover page just to give the image of consistency in the layout for the rest of the magazine. One thing I didn't expect was to see that I couldn't fit the initial raw images into the cont. page as it dramatically pixelated. Next time I could use a better quality camera rather then to have to use images from Google. I also gave a form of watermark on the bottom right corner just to give that side of professionalism to the magazine.

Analysis of two magazines:
Both of these magazines use white backgrounds in order to represent health and beauty as the colour white has the connotation of peace, power and tends to have a bigger picture.
In the mens fitness magazine, they have BOLD text throughout the entire front cover showing how the magazine is more masculine and relates to the target audience as they relate fitness to bulkiness. They also use John Cena in the magazine as he is an idol to people getting into fitness as well as wrestling finatics.                                                                                                                                                                             Southern Beauty magazine uses a lot of fancy/decorative text relating to the target audience. The colours used are bright and eye catching, They use these colours as it is visually more pleasing to females attracting them to come and read the magazine. Men tend to prefer darker colours as they see it as a more masculine factor hence the reason they use big black bulky text in the "GET BIG" in the Men's Fitness magazine.

Front cover and contents page plan

I plan to have my contents page set out like this in order to keep the audiences focus, they start off by looking at the images which hooks them to read on, once they read the content info, they'll see more pictures along the bottom allowing them to constantly engage with the magazine.

I plan to have my front cover to look like this, the main image being the eye catcher which the big bold tittle along the top with sell lines being scattered however within a clean manor so that it remains professional but not overly formal as is it targeted towards young people.
